Orica reveals board appointments

Alberto Calderon and Gene Tilbrook appointed non-executive directors.

Orica Ltd has appointed Alberto Calderon and Gene Tilbrook as non-executive directors, effective from August 14.

In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange, Orica chairman Peter Duncan said the pair bring great experience and knowledge to the Orica board through their "impressive corporate backgrounds and senior executive experience".

Mr Calderon was most recently group executive and chief executive aluminium, nickel and corporate development for BHP Billiton Ltd.

A Colombian citizen, Mr Calderon has also been CEO of Colombian coal and oil companies, Cerrejon Coal and Ecopetrol, as well as working for the Government of Colombia and The International Monetary Fund.

Mr Tilbrook was a senior executive of Wesfarmers Ltd between 1985 and 2009, during which time he held roles including executive director of finance and executive director of business development.

He is presently a non-executive director of Aurizon Holdings Ltd, Fletcher Building Ltd and GPT Group.

Mr Calderon and Mr Tilbrook will offer themselves for reappointment by shareholders at the next Orica Limited annual general meeting in January 2014.
