Myer Holdings Ltd will offer free postage, re-run Boxing Day sale offers and add extra online-only specials to appease customers when its website is back up and running, The Australian Financial Review reports.
Myer's online store crashed in the early hours of Boxing Day, the biggest shopping day of the year, and at the time of writing is still not functioning.
“I know perfectly well that this is not good for our reputation in trying to compete online,” chief executive officer Bernie Brookes told the AFR, "unreservedly" apologising to customers.
Mr Brookes said a breakdown in communication between software and the site's services was behind the continuing problem, according to the newspaper.
Mr Brookes hopes the online store will be operational again after system tests conclude tomorrow, the AFR reports.
