Macquarie Atlas Roads eyes economic boost

Group says portfolio is set to benefit from any lift in economic conditions.

Macquarie Atlas Roads (MQA) has told shareholders at its annual general meeting that its portfolio is well positioned to benefit from any future improvements in economic conditions in France and the United States.

The infrastructure group said it was encouraged to see an improved performance in its French toll road network in 2013, Autoroutes Paris-Rhin-Rhône (APRR).

This positive trend has continued in early 2014, Macquarie Atlas Roads said, with distributions from this network underpinning dividends paid.

The low interest rate environment also provides an opportunity for interest reductions as the French network's existing net matures.

The network has agreed to increase capital expenditure and lift tolls, providing an opportunity for a lift in revenue, Macquarie Atlas Roads said.
