Lynas Corporation (LYC) has appointed Jean Claude Steinmetz as chief operating officer, effective today.
In a statement to the Australian Securities exchange, the group said Mr Steinmetz will be based in Malaysia to oversee operation of the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant, as well as the mining operations and concentration plant at Mount Weld in Western Australia.
The company said he has significant expertise in chemical engineering as well as extensive senior management and board level experience.
He previously worked for chemical and electrical corporations DuPont de Nemours, General Electric and Solvay.
Lynas Corporation chief executive officer Eric Noyrez said Mr Steinmetz's relationships will "assist Lynas in strengthening customer relationships as well as helping to develop other sales and business opportunities".
