Trucking magnate Lindsay Fox has been awarded one of Germany's most prestigious honours.

Trucking magnate Lindsay Fox has been awarded one of Germany's most prestigious honours.

The Linfox CEO received the Cross of the German Order of Merit at a reception at the National Library of Australia in Canberra yesterday.

Mr Fox, who headed the German-Australian Chamber of Commerce for six years, was awarded the order by German ambassador Dr Christoph Mueller for his contribution to German-Australian relations.

Yesterday's reception was part of a series of events marking 60 years of diplomatic relations between Germany and Australia.

The honour is given to those who have made an outstanding contribution to political, economic and cultural life. Previous Australian recipients include winemaker Wolf Blass and former CSR chairman Sir Gordon Jackson.
