Leighton directors hire lawyer

Leighton chair, director deny knowledge of overseas corruption.

In an effort to fight allegations they failed to respond to reports of bribery in the company's international operations, Leighton Holdings (LEI) chairman Bob Humphris and director Bob Seidler have hired a prominent barrister, according to The Australian.

The barrister will reportedly investigate possible defamation action against Fairfax Media (FXJ) over reports that the Leighton senior officials knew of corrupt activities in Iraq.

Former Leighton chief executive Wal King has also strongly denied any allegations of wrongdoing.
