Is the PC era almost over?

PC shipments are falling faster than expected, but will the device ever go extinct?

What a coincidence. Just as Google finally decided to launch its Chromebook products in Australia last week, IDC came out with new data saying that PC shipments are falling much faster than originally expected. The figures are another indicator that the PC-era is nearing its end. They’re also a reminder that Google really needs to pick up the pace of its distribution if it wants to actually turn a buck of its Chromebook range.

If the two year delay between the Chromebook’s original release in the US and its launch in Australia is any indication, PCs may be paperweights by the time internet giant’s full range of Chrome-operated devices hit our shores.

On that, today’s infographic which was sourced from Infotainment News and created by NowSourcing, examines what the world will look like after the end of PCs.

How long do you think it will take? And will PCs ever go extinct? Let us know in the comments below.
