Aust stocks open stronger

Local market gain almost 0.5% as optimism over US debt deal intensifies.

The Australian stock market opened higher after United States Senate leaders reached a deal for a temporary budget and to extend the debt ceiling, potentially ending the government shutdown.

At the 1015 AEDT official market open, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index gained 0.46% to 5,287.3 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index added 5.2 points, or 0.47%, to 5,289.3 points.
