Aust stocks open little changed

Local market begins flat after S&P 500 hit a fresh closing high despite mixed US economic data.

The Australian sharemarket opened little changed after the S&P 500 hit a fresh closing high on Wall Street despite mixed US economic data.

At the 10.15am (AEST) official market open, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index lowered 4.3 points, or 0.08%, to 5,440.5, while the broader All Ordinaries index slipped 3.8 points, or 0.07%, to 5,423 points.

In economic news on Thursday, the bureau of statistics releases international trade in goods and services data for April.

The market on Wednesday closed lower, with the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index dropping 34.9 points to 5,444.8 and the broader All Ordinaries index shed 33.7 points to 5,426.8 points.
