Aust dollar rises on retail, trade reads

The Australian dollar has risen on the release of retail sales and trade balance figures for May.

The Australian dollar has risen on the release of retail sales and trade balance figures for May. 

At 1127 AEDT, just prior to the release of the figures the currency was trading at 91.71 US cents.

At 1134 AEDT, the Australian dollar was trading at  91.83 US cents.

Australian Bureau of Statistics data showed retail sales grew a seasonally adjusted 0.1% in May, but missed expectations of a 0.3% rise.

Elsewhere, the May trade surplus widened to a seasonally adjusted $670 million.
