Aust dollar flat in early trade

Local currency fails to find strong direction with US markets closed for Labor Day.

The Australian dollar is almost level with where it ended the local session on Monday, after staying in a tight range for most of the offshore session.

Trading volumes were down because US markets were closed for the Labor Day public holiday.

At 0630 AEST, the Australian currency was trading at 89.81 US cents, down from 89.84 cents on Monday.
