A note from the editor on the News Ltd sale
A number of people have expressed concerns to me directly and via other online avenues about the announcement that News Limited will be purchasing the parent company of Climate Spectator and also Business Spectator – Australian Independent Business Media.
Climate Spectator has been a strong critic of inaccurate coverage of carbon pricing and other carbon emission reduction policies by some News Limited publications, so these concerns from readers are understandable.
Alan Kohler has stated that he will remain Editor-in-Chief of the Business Spectator stable of publications including Climate Spectator and there will be no change in editorial approach for as long as he remains in this position.
Those who know me personally and have followed my writing in Climate Spectator will be in no doubt that I am fiercely outspoken on the issues surrounding the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions here in Australia and globally. This will not change.
If this publication were to inaccurately reflect the best available evidence around global warming and the economic impact of policies to reduce emissions, it would rapidly lose the audience it has managed to develop, and this is in no one's interests.
Ultimately you the readers can judge us by the quality and accuracy of what we publish.
