Company Overview

Business Description:
Symex Holdings Limited (SYM) engages in manufacturing and sale of consumer products and specialty chemical products in Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Asia, Europe and Middle East.

Strategy Analysis:
SYM is diversifying around its core business of Oleo Products, chemical products derived from natural sources like animals or vegetables. SYM has diversified further into personal care with the acquisition of Close Up, Aim toothpaste, and Huggie fabric softener and firelighters. The recent Pental soap business acquisition cost around $21m, financed by utilizing existing debt facilities. Further private label manufacturing of soaps for retailers is planned. The Port Melbourne plant is being expanded.
