Business Description: Silex Systems Limited (SLX) is a research and development company whose assets are its proprietary rights in technologies, including the SILEX technology, but not limited to, the SILEX technology. SLX has 2 business divisions: Commercial Activities, comprising SilexSolar PV panel manufacturing business and ChronoLogic electronic instrumentation business and Research and Development activities.
Strategy Analysis: SLX's strategy goal is to be the global leader in residential, commercial and utility scale solar energy solutions via their flat panel mono-silicon and proprietary 'Dense Array´ concentrated photovoltaic systems. The potential for solar energy is underpinned by the growth in global government incentives, concerns regarding energy security, the rising price of conventional energy sources and tightening regulations to limit fossil-fuel emissions.
Silex Systems reported a net loss of $31.30m for the year ended 30 June 2011. Revenues from ordinary activities were $29.19m. Basic and Diluted EPS were (19.6) cents compared to (12.3) cents last year. The net operating cash outflow was $28.73m compared to an outflow of $13.90m in the pcp. No dividend was declared.
