Business Description:
Gloucester Coal Limited (GCL) is an Australian coal producer with exploration and mining operations in the Gloucester Basin and lower Hunter Valley of New South Wales and the Bowen Basin in Queensland.

Strategy Analysis:
GCL aims to increase coal production from its mines in New South Wales and Queensland. Gloucester Coal reported NPAT up 67% to $54.56m for the year ended 30 June 2011. After eliminating the impact of transaction costs ($6.4m after tax) the company delivered an operational profit after tax of $61.0m, which represents profit of $29 per tonne of coal sold. Revenues from ordinary activities were $306.56m, up 34% from last year. Diluted EPS was 38.2 cents compared to 36.1 cents last year. Net operating cash flow was $64.85m compared to $3.03m last year. No dividend was declared.
