Business Description: Fiducian Portfolio Services Limited (FPS) is an Australian financial services company, providing services in funds management and administration, advice services, portfolio administration, information technology and business services to both individuals and organisations.
Strategy Analysis: Fiducian posted a 7.5 % increase in earnings for the half year to December 2001, compared with the previous corresponding period. This was despite the lower than expected funds inflow, due to increased revenue streams and cost management initiatives and controls. The increased revenue was contributed by the expanded distribution network and the newly established Cash Management Trust and Corporate Superannuation Service.
By December 2001, funds under management had reached $543 million. Management indicated that unless increased inflows continue, second half profit will be under pressure as the group continues to invest in the development and growth of the business.
The support of advisor groups is required for further growth. The company is expanding its network throughout Australia through the franchised financial planning arm and an increase in the number of dealer groups and financial planners within existing groups.
The company plans to expand by increasing the range of products that it offers. It is currently developing a corporate superannuation services offering for which it is investing in a new computerised administration system.
